A fresh-faced Christmas at BBC Radio 1.

From Boxing Day to New Years day, a whole bunch of new faces will be taking over at BBC Radio One. Presenter applications were invited in September and needless to say, they arrived in their thousands! From this, a shortlist of the brightest and best emerged and Loftus Media asked me to photograph four of the likely candidates. I spent two really enjoyable days in Manchester’s Media City, taking pictures of Dean, James, Vicky and Ellen. Covid restrictions limited us to two in the studio at any time but working alongside producers, we captured a great selection of pictures. A clean, white backdrop in reception doubled as a perfect portrait space. Of course at that stage we were just keeping everything crossed they’d all make the cut. We had to wait a couple of weeks before the big announcement was finally made. But it’s now official – they’re all in! I am so pleased for them as they’re a really lovely bunch.
