Fans worship at Reverend and The Makers!
Serendipity happily struck this month when I randomly texted my mate Jon McClure. You will of course know him as the lead singer from Reverend and the Makers. It transpired that I was going to be in the same area for work when they had a gig in Northampton. As we both hail from Sheffield, it was a happy coincidence that I got to go along to see and shoot their show, and have a good catch-up!
Armed with my camera I joined them on only the second night of their current tour after kicking off in Brighton. Unsurprisingly it was a sold out gig and the eager crowd also got to see support from Danny Goffey, who I’m sure you’ll remember as the drummer from Supergrass. It was a really great set from them and I’d definitely go see them again.
When Jon, aka “The Reverend” got out on stage, he had the crowd rocking immediately. The atmosphere was incredible and the whole band sounded fantastic! As I had the privilege of being the only photographer there, I was able to get some great shots whilst enjoying myself, and without having to jostle for position – a rare treat indeed!
You can really tell that they all love being out on tour and connecting with their audience. After the show, me and a couple of mates went for drinks with them and we had a great night as the good vibes continued. They posted on social media afterwards that it was one of the best gigs they’ve ever had “darn south”, and I can whole heartedly confirm that they absolutely smashed it!
Here’s a picture of one of my long term work colleagues of 18 years, Mark Lench with the lovely Laura. Mark is such a huge music that fan he has a list of every gig he’s ever been to since the late 70’s, and remembered seeing The Reverend and The Makers back in the 90’s supporting Oasis at Wembley. Even Jon was impressed that he remembered!
Thanks for the catch-up guys, let’s do it again soon!
