In the beautiful sunshine this year’s festival at Braunston Marina on the Grand Union Canal was opened by the legendary Pete Waterman. It was absolutely packed with a wide variety of boats, often 3 or 4 abreast, including a boat ring parade! There was a rally of FMC (Fellows, Morton & Clayton) and other historic working narrowboats, parades, exhibitions, music, food, drink as well as much fun and laughter!
As yours truly lives onboard a narrowboat, it was great for me to be there to celebrate this unique part of our historical culture. And given that it has now become an ever more popular alternative way and place to live, it was wonderful to see the old and new united at this festival.
